On Friday 11th November, Embankment Kitchen, the bar and brasserie on the ground floor of Manchester’s 5-star luxury aparthotel CitySuites, will launch a magical Winter Garden. It will be the perfect hideaway to sit and relax after a day exploring the city’s Christmas markets.

Overlooking Manchester’s historic cathedral and luxury retailers Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, Embankment Kitchen is a hidden gem located just moments away from Exchange Square. The Winter Garden at EK is an outdoor extension of the Embankment Kitchen restaurant & bar and will offer a full service of food and drinks – including Christmas cocktails, mulled wine, and other hot toddies. It will also offer the opportunity for guests to sample some dishes from the latest seasonal menu by new head chef Master Chef: The Professionals quarter finalist, Josh Singleton.

The Winter Garden at CitySuites will feature a cosy seating area with soft furnishings and delicate fairy lights setting the scene for a romantic date night or a much needed catch up with friends. Surrounding the garden will be rich green ferns and evergreens bringing a touch of nature to this city centre spot.

The Winter Menu at Embankment Kitchen, which launched on Thursday 3rd November, features dishes which utilise the very finest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced and expertly used to ensure minimal waste.

“The idea behind the new menu focuses on seasonal, local produce mixed with creative flavours and a learning environment,” says chef Josh. “I’ve tried to develop the menu so my chefs can learn something from it every day, whether it’s flavour combinations or a new technique to enable their passion and creativity.”

Starters include slow braised beef cheek on filo pastry served with a smooth carrot puree,  pickles and onion mayonnaise, and oak smoked salmon served with watercress and a tomato and blackberry salad. Vegetarians can enjoy a gorgeous salt baked artichoke paired with garlic aioli, herb granola, fetta and artichoke puree.

Seasonal mains include venison loin partnered beautifully with crispy kale, roasted pumpkin, pearl barley and a sweet blackberry jus; sea bream served with spinach, broad beans and a lemon and butterbean cassoulet; and a rich goat’s cheese and pumpkin risotto served with roasted broccoli and charred lemon.

Wintry desserts include a warming sticky toffee pudding or a sweet Malva pudding served with apricot jam and warm vanilla custard.

Classic grills, pizzas and burgers are also available but now with a signature EK elevation. The showstopping EK burger includes two 4oz beef burgers served with bacon jam, chilli mayonnaise and smoked cheese. Pizzas include the vegan shredded mushroom with a plumb sauce base, pickled cauliflower, onion, and yoghurt.

Embankment Kitchen’s all new seasonal cocktails are the perfect accompaniment to this seasonal menu, or to simply enjoy on their own. Winter specials include the EK Spiced Negroni, a proper winter warmer with spiced rum, Aperol, sweet vermouth, fireball, apple juice and mulled spiced syrup made in house. Alternatively, try the Chocolate Orange, a rich Bailey’s-based cocktail expertly crafted with Aperol, Mozart Chocolate Cream, orange bitter, orange zest and cream.
