Flight restrictions affecting drones will be imposed above Manchester city centre as part of the policing operation during the Conservative Party Conference being held from 4-8 October.

There will be a temporary airspace restriction in place, starting at 3am on 4 October and ending at 4pm on 8 October 2025, meaning it will be an offence to fly aircraft below 3,500ft (1,066m) above sea level in a designated area with a radius of two nautical miles from the city centre.

These restrictions form part of the policing operation, similar to road closures and high visibility patrols, and are intended to keep delegates and the wider public safe during the conference.

Drone users flying inside the restricted airspace who have not been granted permission will be guilty of committing an offence and could be prosecuted, as well as having their equipment seized and confiscated.
