The North West Net Zero Hub has launched the Clean Power Paper, showing how the region will lead the UK’s clean energy future with jobs, investment, and local renewables.

The paper identifies billions of pounds of investment that will flow into the North West to develop clean power infrastructure, and looks at the unprecedented opportunity this presents for the communities, businesses and organisations in our region.

Scaling up action on net zero will transform the lives of the NW’s seven million residents by improving economic security, creating thousands of high-quality jobs, driving business growth and enhancing public health through cleaner air and improved infrastructure says the report

Commenting on the launch Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said

“Greater Manchester is proud to play a leading role in the North West’s plan for clean power.

Together we can unlock billions in investment, create thousands of green jobs, and generate enough locally-owned power to keep hundreds of thousands of homes running.

“This is about more than energy, it’s about building a fairer, greener future. Through our Net Zero Accelerator we are stimulating investment in renewable energy, heat networks, electrification of transport and energy efficiency measures. Through the Greater Manchester Baccalaureate, we’re helping young people gain the skills for the jobs of the future and creating stronger, greener communities where everyone has the chance to thrive
