Waterside Open is an exciting opportunity for artists to exhibit artwork and win cash prizes at the same time, celebrating emerging and established artists and makers in an exciting exhibition.

The judging panel selects work for a diverse show, and awards £1850 cash prizes to the best 2D and 3D visual arts, textiles, crafts, design, furniture, print, installation, sculpture and digital media.

Anyone from the UK can submit up to three pieces of work, at Waterside on either Friday 23 February 16.30 to 19.00 or Saturday 24 February 11.00 to 16.00 to be assessed by a panel of judges who will choose around 150 to be displayed in Waterside’s gallery spaces.

The winner will be announced at a special preview event on Wednesday 14 March 2018 at Waterside. There will also be a group exhibition for the 2018 winners at Waterside in 2019.

Previous Waterside Open winner Peter Davis said ‘The Waterside Open was a brilliant opportunity to show my work alongside some of the region’s best up and coming artists.’

Selectors on the judging panel include Claire Dorsett (fine artist), Jason Lock (photographer) and Kelda Savage (Curator, Cultural Programme Coordinator for the National Trust).

Kelda Savage said: ‘”I was thrilled to be invited to be on the selection panel for Waterside Open and am looking forward to seeing what work will be submitted. The Open at Waterside has gone from strength to strength over the years and this sixth biennial exhibition will no doubt present an extremely high standard of work from artists and makers from across Trafford, the North West and the UK”

To enter the Open 2018 artists should visit watersidearts.org/open and complete an entry form.
