Heads of cultural institutions from across the Continent will come to Bury this coming week for the European Cultural Centres (ENCC) conference 2016.

Delegates from as far afield as Belgium, Austria, Latvia, Finland and Spain will be at Bury Art Museum between 17 and 19 February.

The conference brings together high profile local and international cultural professionals, policy makers, activists and academics to engage in analysis and debate. They will focus on how European cities can re-invent themselves, taking into account social, economic and environmental challenges.

Some of Bury’s best loved attractions will be represented, including The Met, the Fusilier Museum, Bury Transport Museum, the East Lancashire Railway and Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre.

Tony Trehy, director of Bury Art Museum, said: “Bury has been an ENCC member for some time and we are delighted to welcome our European partners to the town to experience everything Bury has to offer. The conference will help Bury and other European towns and cities improve their cultural development.”
