The Assisted Dying Bill has officially failed
The Bill ran out of time in Parliament eighteen months after first being introduced but has been held up in the House of Lords with peers debating numerous amendments
As the debate came to a close, Lord Barber said that the House of Lords has “abjectly failed in our responsibilities as a scrutinising and revising chamber”
More than 1200 amendments have been reportedly table with sixteen days in the chamber devoted to the bill which was passed by MP’s in the House of Commons in June 2025
