A poll circulating amongst Labour’s team seems to suggest that Restore Britain’s entry into the race could be handing victory to Andy Burnham

Avcording to the i newspaper this morning the internal poll shows Restore at 13 per cent, eating into the support of Nigel Farage’s party, which is at 24 per cent.

Combined, those votes would be enough to defeat Burnham, who is polling at 35 per cent.

Meanwhile analysis by suggests that Andy Burnham has shifted his campaign strategy sharply in the closing stretch, zeroing in on hyper‑local issues.

“Around £8,000 has gone into Meta ads over the past week, pushing pledges on cleaning up a local dump, new link roads and opening a pharmacy and GP surgery” says the report in Politico

“One paid ad contains a graphic of “Andy’s to do list for Makerfield” — with pledges to build link roads, open a pharmacy and doctors’ surgery, clean up a dump, and block a controversial local development. Another promotes a video from a supportive local Labour councillor bragging that Burnham had “steamrolled” a campaign to secure funds for a local library which has fallen into disrepair.”

Many outlets have also picked up on comments that Burnham made in a hustings yesterday in which he said that more than 3.5 million WASPI women “deserve” compensation, a pledge which so far has not been honoured by Kier Starmer’s Government

Nigel Farage came to the constituency yesterday unveiling a £2.1 billion pledge to increase the VAT threshold for small businesses from £90,000 to £150,000 a move he billed as a “fair deal for the white van man”

He also faced questions about offensive comments that his party’s candidate has made in the past which he dismissed as a “few laddish things”
