Things to do
Ol’ black eyes is back as Alice Cooper performs at the Manchester Arena this weekend. On the 4th October at Manchester Arena, the 71-year-old rocker will be working through his greatest hits.
Romesh is back with a brand new show ‘The Cynic’s Mixtape’, his most brutally honest show yet. Romesh Ranganathan will be performing at the o2 Apollo and while the Saturday show is sold out tickets for the show on Sunday are still available. Guests must be 14+.
The o2 Ritz will host Amber Run, a British indie trio who have truly honed their sound over the years, delivering a rich, cinematic and introspective tone across their two acclaimed albums. The show will take place on Friday (4th) at 18:30.
Ireland’s Heidi Talbot and Scotland’s Adam Holmes (Arcade) are joining forces to tour, write and record an album of original material together. They will play The Met in Bury on the 4th.
An award-winning photographer is sharing the stories of Salford’s black, Asian and minority ethnic communities through an exhibition at The Lowry marking Black History Month. Still I Rise will be open to the public this weekend until the start of November.

Beeshes feature five powerful yet sensitive women grappling with the pressures and joys of their special ‘gifts’. Beeshes at The Women in Comedy Festival takes place on Sunday at Tribeca.
As part of Albert’s Schloss’ Seven Days of Showtime Haus Boheme will take place on Saturday. Anything goes and everything goes off, with live music, DJs, performance artists and art haus creatives taking you on a journey to the heart of all things Schloss.
Food and Drink
Oktoberfest comes to Bowlers Exhibition Centre this weekend. Madchester presents Oktoberfest on Saturday with live Madchester bands, acid house arena, German beer & cider Biekkeller arena, food court and fairground. Limited tickets are available.
Manchester Food and Drink Festival hosts a Wine and Fizz Festival on the 4th and the 5th at Manchester Cathedral. Enjoy a wonderful day or evening celebrating all things grape related.
On Saturday at Victoria Warehouse at 12:30, there will be a Prosecco Festival. Prosecco Festival Ltd presents the UK’s first and only Prosecco Festival, the ultimate festival for Prosecco lovers.

Sport
Manchester City return to Premier League duties after their midweek Champions League efforts. They host Wolves and will be looking to either close the gap or keep up the pace with leaders Liverpool depending what happens with their match on Saturday. City play at 14:00 on Sunday.
On Saturday at 14:00 the Manchester City Ladies will be in action. They will be looking to make it 4 wins from 4 against Birmingham City Ladies who have lost their two games so far this season.
In League 2 Oldham Athletic will take on Cheltenham at 15:00 on Saturday. They will hope to win their second home league game since Dino Maamria took charge.
Sale Sharks will be at home this weekend against Wasps after a strong showing against Saracens. The game takes place on the 5th at 15:00.
Manchester Storm play the Glasgow Clan this Sunday at 17:30.
Theatre
Bill Bryson will be on stage at the Palace Theatre with his show Bill Bryson – Observations on Life and the Human Body this Saturday.
Stepping Stones To The Stars, a unique event which enables gifted performers who are on the autistic spectrum to showcase their amazing talents takes place at The Met in Bury on Saturday at 19:30.
