Great Northern has revealed who will be taking over its Community Kitchen on the Square this week, and it promises to be bursting with flavour, spice and variety.

This week it is a whistle-stop tour of East Asia, from Vietnam to Indonesia, Japan to Thailand, Malaysia to Singapore, as Manchester’s favourite, independent Pan Asian restaurant, Tampopo, take over the Community Kitchen.

They have travelled all over East Asia to bring back their favourite dishes and have put together a bespoke menu comprising their best-loved restaurant dishes especially for you to try; and trust us, you are in for a treat!

From sticky chicken wings with even stickier rice and salad to corn fritters, satay chicken to Thai curry noodles, Singaporean curry or katsu curry, your taste buds will be whisked away to the beautiful Thai beaches, the bright lights of Singapore or the beautiful, misty foothills of the Japanese mountains. Sit back and savour those flavours!

First time eating at Tampopo?

Well, luckily for you and all guests, all menu items are up to 40% cheaper this weekend at the Great Northern than if you eat at the restaurant so it’s a perfect opportunity to give it a try and if, like us, you’re already a die-hard fan, you’ve got yourself a bargain!

Wash it all down with a refreshing cold pint of Estrella Damm or a G&T with a twist from Didsbury Gin. With a range of flavours to choose from including raspberry and elderflower, strawberry and lemon or blood orange. Tampopo is also serving a selection of red, white or rosé wines and soft drinks, including their very own homemade still lemonade. Delicious!

From just £4 – £7, all dishes are the perfect size for sharing with others, or to enjoy all to yourself.

The Tampopo pan Asian dining experience will be open from 12 noon-9pm Friday to Sunday. No need to book, simply pop down and enjoy drinks and food outdoors either solo or with the rest of your household.

The pop-up restaurant on the square provides a COVID-secure space for local businesses that are restricted with limited outdoor dining space. The weekly takeovers allow these restaurants to serve up their delicious cuisine right in the heart of Manchester.

All diners will experience table service to reduce close contact and ensure social distancing to kept at all times.
