As the home of the Angel of Purity, it is quite fitting that it is the beautiful angelic sounds of the harp and flute that will be filling Victoria Baths for its summer fundraising concert.

This Friday 7 June harpist Eira Lynn Jones and flautist Anna Rosa Mari, known as The Juniper Project, will perform a special concert in the Gala Pool.

As well as a stunning setting, with its majestic glazed roof, stained glass windows and colourful ironwork, the Gala Pool offers fabulous acoustics. So whilst this is a very different concert hall experience for the duo, who as individuals have performed with the Halle, BBC Philharmonic Orchestras, Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and extensively internationally, it is one they are greatly looking forward to.

Eira Lynn Jones, harpist for The Juniper Project and Head of Harp at the RNCM, says “This is the first time a flute and harp combination has been heard at the Baths. It really will be a unique occasion and a wonderful way to raise funds towards the restoration project.”

The programme will be a mix of works from their new CD, Fragments. Favourites include Greensleeves by Vaughan Williams and Entr’acte by Ibert. Debussy’s stunning Syrinx will be played from the balcony so that the sound of the flute will envelop the audience. This will be a chance to see a concert harp up close, and to discover why it has 7 pedals!

Amy Lewis, Trustee of Victoria Baths Trust, says, “The Juniper Project concert is going to be the perfect way to spend a summer night, listening to enchanting music and enjoying the sublime beauty of Victoria Baths. The building is looking wonderful, thanks to those who support our ongoing mission to restore Victoria Baths, but there is still so much morerestoration work to do. We are therefore hugely grateful to Eira and Anna for putting on this fundraising concert, which will help Victoria Baths Trust to generate vital funds.”

Guest will arrive to Victoria Bath for 6:30pm, with a chance to have a look around the Grade II* listed historic gem and enjoy a glass of Gin Fizz before the concert starts at 7:30pm, with the bar open for drinks at the interval.
