A 45 year old man has been killed after being hit by a car on the M60 last night

He was seen walking along the clockwise carriageway of the M60 close to junction five before being hit by a mini-cooper was travelling in the same direction.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Inspector Darren Hancock, Head of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a tragic incident in which a man has very sadly lost his life. It’s unclear at this stage as to why he had been walking along the motorway and this will form a part of the investigation carried out. We’re following all available lines of enquiry to establish what exactly has occurred.”

“We’re appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the road at the time and witnessed the collision or saw the man beforehand to get in touch with police as soon as possible. We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam or video footage.”
