Farooq Rana of Jayton Avenue, Manchester was yesterday charged with rape and false imprisonment.
The charges follow reports that a female had been raped in the early hours of Saturday on Ashton New Road in Manchester.
Rana has since been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Manchester Crown Court on 7 November.
