British No.2 and club asset Steve Worrall becomes the first Belle Vue signing to confirm his return to the National Speedway Stadium for his fourth consecutive season in the famous Aces colours.

A firm favourite amongst the Mancunian faithful, he consistently demonstrated his world-class potential as a solid second-string presence and even, at times, a frequently powerful heat leader.

But it was his debut performance for Team Great Britain in last year’s Speedway World Cup where he proved his mettle amongst the best in the world, an experience he’s determined to build on.

The 26-year old is keen to continue his European development and has already agreed terms with Polish clubs Rawicz and Lezno, while also keeping things local with Championship side Scunthorpe.

He said: “It was a no-brainer that Belle Vue was where I wanted to be in the Premiership. It’s my parent club, I love the track and I feel the bulk of my development has come from riding for them.

“I had one of my best seasons in 2017 and I want to continue in that vein of form. I’ve made bigger commitments in Poland this year and Belle Vue sets a great standard for what to expect out there.

“I believe the experience can only be beneficial to my progression. I want to push myself harder and take on the larger responsibilities within the team. I know I’m capable of handling the pressure.”

With team-building close to completion further announcements on the 2018 Belle Vue Aces and Colts sides are expected in the coming weeks, adds Director of Speedway Mark Lemon.

On the busy, post-winter period, he continues: “We would like to thank all of our supporters for their patience on team news whilst we have been busy finalising our future business plans.

“We are happy to announce the first of our riders for the 2018 Premiership and National League teams and look forward to a new season in which we will celebrate the club’s 90th anniversary.

“The Aces will return to Monday race nights as part of Premiership League set race night’s re-structure whilst our Colts will continue on Friday nights at the National Speedway Stadium.

“Ticket prices and season ticket sales will be announced and available soon.”
