A 29-year-old-man has been arrested after a double stabbing in Bury at the weekend

He remains in custody for questioning.

It followed an incident outside a bar on Silver Street in the early hours of Sunday morning in which two men aged aged 45 and 34, received injuries.

Their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Superintendent Mike Walsh, from GMP’s Bury district, said:

“It is very fortunate that the injuries sustained in this incident were not more serious, and I am glad that someone is now in custody in connection with the investigation.

“However, these sort of incidents cause natural concern – and I want the wider Bury community to know that we will never tolerate such actions within our area.

“While we have already made an arrest, work is still ongoing to understand the full circumstances and we are determined to secure the right result. Violence has no place on our streets and I would urge anyone with information that will help enquiries to make a report to police.”
