A 24-year-old man has been taken to hospital with leg injuries, where he remains in a serious condition after a shooting in Rochdale this afternoon.
The incident happened on Knowsley Street around 2.50pm,
Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forwarded.
Detective Inspector Mark McDowall from GMP’s Rochdale Division said: “We understand the concern that an incident like this will cause and I want to reassure the public that a full investigation has been launched.
“I would like to state that we are currently treating this as an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the community.
“Residents in the area of the shooting may notice an increased visible police presence, and we would encourage members of the public to approach officers with any concerns they may have.”
