A 15-year-old boy from Manchester has been charged with possession of bladed weapon and obstructing police.
The charges follow a series of incidents reported in the area of Whaley Range High School
He was remanded to court and subsequently bailed to appear on Monday 7 November 2022 at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
Greater Manchester Police will continue to work with teachers and local partners to ensure the safety of everyone coming and going from school.
Superintendent Helen Critchley of GMP’s City of Manchester South division, said: “I understand that incidents such as this cause concern especially for parents, I would like to reassure the entire community that we are taking this seriously and there is an ongoing investigation.
“As we approach darker nights we encourage young people in the area to travel together and be vigilant of their surroundings, whilst always looking out for each other.
“I would also personally like to encourage both students and parents to report anything they see that is suspicious or of concern to them immediately and we will continue to act on it.
“If any victims or witnesses have yet to report matters linked to this recent series of events please come forward, we are keen to hear from you.”
