Newly crowned Australian Champion Rohan Tungate becomes the second of Belle Vue’s 2018 confirmed Premiership starters, returning to the National Speedway Stadium for a second season.

He forged an impressive CV in Manchester, making such a significant impression in the early campaign with his scintillating form as to later earn him a permanent spot in the Aces team.

At the close of the 2017 season, he caught the attention of the world with a flawless performance in the 2017 QBE Insurance Australian FIM Speedway GP, scoring 6 points from two rides..

And after four impressive rounds, wearing his Belle Vue racesuite, he claimed the 2018 Australian national title in Gilman on Sunday where he gave fans an insight into his immense potential.

He said: “It was a real challenge, particularly going into the last round because things got so tight with Brady [Kurtz]. It was a hard-earned victory but I’m pretty happy with my performance.

“I put that down to how strongly I finished with Belle Vue last season. I was feeling good, confident and I’m really keen now to get back to business and pick up from where we left off in 2017.

“I see no reason why I can’t translate my Aussie form back into my British racing. I’ve been training really hard because I know all the lads, particularly myself, want that league trophy this year.”

Tungate joins club asset Steve Worrall on Belle Vue’s list of confirmed starters for the upcoming 2018 campaign, with the third set to be announced this Wednesday, January 17.
