Zidane has not kept it a secret how he touted forward for the possibility of taking the management role within Manchester United, but of course many fans of the team often wondered what happened about the link and how it never fell through and in place. It was a few seasons ago that betting on Manchester United and Man City Football Club, was firmly focused on the possibility of Zidane joining the management roles of either one of the teams, since he is a very loved football player and manager, many had hope that he would make his way to Mancunian soul, but alas he did not.

After recent talks, Zidane did reveal that his lack of confidence with the English language, acted as a barrier towards him truly considering the role of management for Manchester United. Back in the day, fans will remember how Zidane was a favourite to take the role, shortly after Ole Gunnar was sacked in November of the last season. Up until then Zidane rumours of joining the team after his departure from Real Madrid, are very much real.

Winning the Champions League three consecutive seasons, one after the other, put him in strong reign for being one of the best managers in football history. Madrid remains one of the best sports teams in the world, and many pinpoint this down to Zidane’s expertise and contributions.

Celebrating his 50th birthday just recently, Zidane sat down with L’Equipe and talked it all out in regard to where he would like to see himself in the future. While he did not reject the idea of taking the management role, he confirmed the English barrier to be key to him holding back. Additionally, he did believe that his age was another factor to not being the best choice. He believed that now he has hit the big 50, his selection and choice for clubs is not as prevalent. He always believed that if he was to go back to a club, it would be to win and make history, but in all modesty, Zidane humbly believed that he isn’t the top choice and priority of clubs these days. But he was very much fine with that regardless.

While he was pressed for an answer regarding him mastering English for the purpose of taking the lead in Premier League Football, Zidane said it would take him a while to master the English language as he should, when taking the management role of a British club like Manchester United.

Further on within his interview, he did hint how he would possibly be joining the ranks of a French reunion, by taking a role within PSG. But alas, confirmation and solidity of this has yet to be disclosed, as he was not ready to give too much information away to press at the time. Meaning that a real development could be very much announced soon, as he certainly left the press wanting more information. However, one thing he did try and make very clear, was his intention to win and maintain his clean seamless record that he had built over the years. After leaving at such a high level within his career of coaching, it would not make sense for him to continue with a team and not provide the same level of results. He wants to keep his reputation and impact on the world of football, meaning it is a worry for him to not maintain such high standards that he maintained for many, many years in the Spanish league.

Still called the king of Madrid, Zidane has 108 caps to his name, and while it is in his heart to come back to France, what happens next is still very unclear.
