Salford City have signed Lincoln City midfielder Michael O’Connor on a deal until the end of the season.

The midfielder won promotion from Sky Bet League Two with Lincoln last season.

It’s the second time the 32-year-old has been promoted from the division having also gone up with Rotherham United in 2012-13.

A former Northern Ireland international, O’Connor graduated from the Crewe Alexandra academy and made over 80 appearances for The Railwaymen before moving to Scunthorpe United in 2009. A three year spell at Glanford Park was followed by two years at Rotherham which culminated in promotion via the play-offs to The Championship.

He stayed in League One with Port Vale where he played with Chris Neal for two years, then had two seasons at Notts County before moving to Lincoln and winning promotion in his first season.
