Simon Wood’s flagship restaurant, Wood, on Jack Rosenthal Street in First Street is now offering a four-course set lunch menu on Fridays with regular and vegetarian options available.
The limited edition – and great value – Friday lunch menu costs £40 per person and a three-course wine pairing is also available on request for £20pp.
The Friday lunch menu is a shorter version of Wood’s full lunch tasting menu (£75 per head) and the refined evening tasting menu which is available at £110 per head. A more concise early evening menu is also available (£55pp).
All dishes at Wood Manchester are made from scratch using top quality seasonal produce and the kind of intricate culinary techniques that lead to Simon Wood being crowned Masterchef Champion in 2015.
Oldham born Wood and his restaurant have both evolved since reopening after lockdown with a softer approach and elevated cooking. Grey linen tablecloths, hand-made ceramic dishes, and an acoustic soundtrack have been introduced and the kitchen team is more involved with chefs take turns to bring each course over to the table.
Dishes will evolve seasonally along with tweaks and constant improvements from the highly creative team. Courses often display northern routes, great flavours and a nod to Simon’s signature sense of humour and showmanship.

Autumnal dishes might involve Sweetcorn Dashi, Truffled Duck Egg & Soldiers and Mrs. Kirkham’s, Lovage & Watercress. Followed by Anjou Squab with Woodland Berries, Madeira & Mirin and Brown Butter Artichoke with Black Apple. A cheese course is available for an additional supplement.
Cheese is a subject close to Wood’s heart and he has devoted the private dining room in the upstairs mezzanine to ‘Homage’, an exclusive and intimate lounge dedicated to paired cheese, chutneys, wines and beers, which opens Wednesday to Saturday.
