lthough many dream of a once-in-a-lifetime holiday adventure to Lapland – some may just not be able to fit it onto their busy schedule. Therefore, a local entrepreneur from Manchester who founded Visit Lapland has teamed up with Swedish Lapland, expert videographers, and award-winning experts in immersive dome projections Immersive Experiences to bring the Northern Lights to the Destinations Travel Show in Manchester.

The display of the Northern Lights was captured less than a month ago in Absiko, Northern Sweden, using specialist camera equipment. This never before seen footage has been edited to give visitors an insight into the adventure you have whilst undertaking an Aurora (Northern Lights) hunt in the arctic region, and is supported by experts in Northern Lights tourism who will be part of the experience giving their personal insight into the Northern Lights.

“Experiencing the Northern Lights is a very personal experience, something to share,” said Mark Hayward, co-founder of Visit Lapland. “Therefore, we wanted to create an experience where people could admire the Arctic Night sky together and get as truer sense of experience as possible – and the dome projection was an obvious solution.”

The 5-meter wide dome will allow 15 people to experience the Northern lights together lasting from 3-5 minutes. After the experience, members of the team will be available to continue their discussion about Arctic activities.

Anna Skogh, Press and PR Manager at Swedish Lapland added; “This new experience is a fantastic opportunity for those to get a real insight into what it’s like to go on a Northern Lights hunt – we hope that it will also inspire them to come and see the lights for themselves.”

The event has been supported by specialists in dome projection from the award-winning planetariums firm Immersive Experiences, who have the world’s largest fleet of award-winning planetariums, geodesics and immersive theatre domes. CEO of Immersive Experiences, Zee Dinally FRAS, said; “This is an exciting project that will push the boundaries of visitors minds. It is more than just a virtual experience, it will make guests feel like they are in the Arctic to experience the Northern Lights as a group for themselves!”

The Northern Lights experience will be in at Destinations Manchester at Event City from 16th -19th January and then at Destinations London at Olympia London from 30th January to 2nd February. To find out more, visit www.destinationsshow.com .
