Drivers in the UK will be permitted to drive without renewing their MoT for a period of up to six months during the coronavirus special measures, the government have announced .

Cars, motorcycles and vans will be given the temporary leeway from 30 March to allow people to travel to work when essential or shop for necessities, even if their MoT is not up to date.

Vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition, and garages will remain open for essential repair work and drivers can still be prosecuted if driving unsafe vehicles.
