Two men have been detained in Whitefield on suspicion of terrorist activity following an incident on Monday when a house in Victoria Avenue was cordoned off after reports of a suspicious package.
The two, aged 23 and 24 were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism and a warrant of further detention has been granted say the police.
Bomb disposal officers said that no explosives had been found at the property as the search continued for several hours on Monday.
