A cyclist who died in a crash in Withington was the son of Frank Sidebottom creator Chris Sievey.

The family of a man who died after a collision in Withington has paid tribute to their “happy-go-lucky” son and brother.

24 year old Harry Sievey was killed on Sunday when a blue Vauxhall Corsa driving along Mauldeth Road collided with him and another cyclist near to the junction of Wellington Road.

The other man, also in his 20s was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation was launched by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit and a 61-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until 27 March 2017.

In tribute to Harry, his family said: “There are no words for another tragic and sad loss to our family.

“Our little brother and loving son Harry was always happy-go-lucky. We are heart broken, taken from us before his time. “

They added: “We ask for our privacy at this time why we come to terms with our loss.”

Officers continue to appeal for witnesses and urge anyone with any information to contact police.
