Travel back in time with East Lancashire Railway this May for its fabulous 1940’s Weekend- jam packed with old fashioned fun!

Forties fever will be sweeping the heritage railway from the 27-29th May as the much loved event makes a triumphant return.

The weekend kicks off with music, performances and vintage stalls from the period that are set to continue throughout the Bank Holiday. Entertainment includes The Rum and Cola Girls, Kitty LaMare, Leeds City Stompers, A-Train Swing and much more.

Get up close and personal with a stunning Spitfire fighter plane and a heroic Hurricane before turning your eyes to the sky to watch a Battle of Britain legend flypast.

Guests are encouraged to take part and dress like the decade as they celebrate in 1940’s fashion.

ELR Chairman, Mike Kelly, comments: “This is a truly unique ELR annual event that makes for an unforgettable Bank Holiday weekend.

“Families and enthusiasts can immerse themselves in all the fun of the forties from its iconic music and fashion to historic static displays as they join us for a trip back in time- while dressing for the decade themselves.

“We have a jam packed schedule across four stations and Bury Transport Museum at ELR packed with vintage exhibits, there’s something for everyone. Hop onboard a real heritage steam train and travel between stations for the full experience.”
