Just days after it was announced that the Company was to be taken over by the Government, the Managing director of TransPennine Express has resigned from his role

In a letter to the Companies stakeholders Matthew Golton said it was “time for someone else to lead this train company into the next stage of its recovery”.

As the company is taken over by the Government’s operator of last resort, Mr Golton will be replaced as interim MD by Chris Jackson, regional director of Northern

Golton said in the letter that he firmly believed that Transpennine Express did all it could in areas that it was responsible for and that the recovery plan that he introduced had significantly reduced cancellations
