In the discussion of minimalistic designs, people envision empty rooms, little furniture, no décor, very less color, and a very pale style. However, this concept that people have in their minds, is extremely wrong and has no truth in it, at all. In reality, minimalistic designs can be really aesthetic, if only you make the right choices.

You can look at concepts of Rustic Minimalism, Eclectic Minimalism if you aren’t super sure about minimalistic designs. I am sure that they will leave you completely awestruck.

Firstly, minimalism, in any way, doesn’t mean that you will have to sacrifice comfort, color, livability. When it comes to minimalism, “Less is more,” and in no way you will feel restricted if you do it the right way.

1.    Multi-functional Furniture

When it comes to furniture, it plays a key role in navigating the room’s signature style, that is minimalism. Minimalism doesn’t mean that you must have less furniture. It means, each piece of furniture has a specific role and contributes in a way.

Naturally, furniture pieces that serve no purpose get eliminated. Furniture will be the focus, so it is wise to invest in essential pieces depending on what part of the house you wish to decorate.

2.    Quality over quantity

Naturally, when you have picked upon minimalism as a theme, the question of more the merrier gets eliminated. Plus, I, personally, don’t even like the concept of investing in big lavish pieces. Because while minimalism keeps you timeless, all the other themes will make you obsolete with time.

Furniture and décor should be timeless when it comes to both style and function. The key is to look at quality pieces that last long, and serve a purpose.

3.    Neutral colour theme

Bright, clean, fresh, and calming, are the adjectives you need to look at when deciding the color of your room. I love subdued, neutral color themes that capture the tranquility and promote your minimalist designs.

But this doesn’t mean you cannot go for accent colors. You can always blend. Try and avoid bold colors for as long as you can because it doesn’t fit well with minimalism.

4.    Texture plays a role

You might think neutral colors appear boring; this is when texture comes into the picture. Use a variety of textures to add visual interest and if you make the right pick, it will not even interrupt your minimalist theme.

Experiment with different materials like, plush pillows, knitted throws, smooth furniture surfaces, and sheepskin rugs, and pick what you think looks the best!

5.    Smart storage

One strong misconception people hold is that minimalistic design makes things a lot cluttered, and there is very little storage space. Again, there is no truth in it. The entire idea behind minimalism is that it helps you eliminate chaos and mess in the house.

But in practice, people who make wrong choices might make the space more messy. If done right, you will not have to sacrifice your space, in any possible way. That is when people invest in furnishings like Chic Cabinets, Neutral bookshelves, cubby benches, and other important furniture pieces. Other than that, hidden storage is also an excellent option to help avoid chaos and clutter.

6.    Learning from other minimalistic designs

Minimalism is a quite new concept, but “less is more,” has been around for a while, so there are so many minimalism-themed interiors to look at and learn from.

Some styles emphasize clean lines and cozy textures, some on rounded shapes and curvy designs. Take inspiration from them and invest in the ones that appeal to you the most.

7.    Research online

Well, to be honest, you cannot do this all by yourself. You will need quite a few hands on the way. You need to do a few engineering calculations, design and analyze beams, columns, frames, retaining walls, and more.

And you will not be able to get accurate results if you don’t seek some assistance. In that case, you must seek recommendations from experts like ClearCals. They will help you streamline all your cloud structural designs in one place providing you with the right kind of assistance.

Interior designing, be it minimalist or maximalist, needs to be done with extreme care. After all, your dream home is at stake!
