Three males, aged 15, 16 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody for questioning following a shooting during an attempted robbery in Cheadle Hulme at the weekend

Gunshots were fired during the attempted robbery at a business premises on Worcester Road on Sunday evening.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Moyles, of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “Although the incident was first reported as an attempted robbery, our enquiries have established that it was in fact an attempted murder.

“This news may cause concern but I would like to use this opportunity to reassure the community that we do not believe there is any wider threat and, as always, we are doing everything we can to protect the public.

“Since Sunday evening, the investigation team has been working tirelessly towards making arrests and, with three in custody, will continue to do so until we’ve established the full circumstances surrounding this incident.”
