Three lost sketches by LS Lowry are coming up for auction after they were discovered behind a framed Lowry print in an art teachers collection

The drawings were part of the collection of Mary Morgan Lloyd, a friend of Lowry’s, and was acquired in the early 2000s. The collection consisted of many paintings, prints and work of Mary Morgan Lloyd and the Lowry’s were discovered but not fully appreciated until recently. Two of the drawings were actually discovered behind a Lowry VE DAY print that the owner wanted to
re-use the frame for.

Mary Morgan Lloyd trained and taught at the Liverpool Art School and worked in industrial design in Liverpool pre-Second World War.

The collection consist of four pencil drawings on paper, including a coloured drawing of a blue mini car and lady visiting a house, two landscapes on a single sheet and a drawing of a man and lady waving goodbye to a travelling man.

The sale takes places on Sunday 23rd October at Unique Auctions, Lincoln. The auction starts at 9am.
