A police officer from Greater Manchester Police on duty in the city centre.

Police in Rochdale investigating a shooting on Beswicke Royds Street on  5 March have made three further arrests in connection with the incident.

A 19-year-old was arrested today  on suspicion of conspiracy to commit section 18 wounding, violent disorder and possession of offensive weapon. He remains in custody for further questioning.

A 17-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a section 18 wounding, violent disorder and possession of offensive weapon. He has been bailed pending further investigation.

A 19-year-old man was  arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit section 18 wounding, violent disorder and possession of offensive weapon. He has been bailed pending further investigation.

The two men who were previously arrested in association to this investigation have also been bailed as the investigation continues.

Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer, from the Major Incident Team, said: “We have now made five arrests in connection with this incident.

“This was an unacceptable crime, and we want to reassure the community that we are doing everything possible to keep people safe. Additional patrols have been deployed in the area, and at this stage we believe this was a targeted attack.

“Our investigation is moving at pace. We are absolutely committed to finding everyone involved in this shooting, and our officers will leave no stone unturned as we work to fully understand what happened and bring those responsible to justice.

“We continue to appeal for information and urge anyone who may know anything to come forward and support our investigation.”
