Family favourite, Thomas The Tank Engine will be exchanging Sodor for the East Lancashire Railway over Early May Bank Holiday weekend, bringing along his good friend – Sir Topham Hatt.

The day starts at Bury Bolton Street Station, where the little ones will have the chance to meet Sir Topham Hatt himself, before being introduced to Thomas for photos and hopping on board a rake of heritage carriages set to be pulled by the loveable and famous blue steam locomotive.

Thomas will then pull the train through the picturesque Greater Manchester countryside on a fun-filled journey to Ramsbottom station. Onboard, families will be transported back to Bury Bolton Street, where the doors to Bury Transport Museum will open to a whole host of fun activities.

This is where the young enthusiasts will discover a variety of Thomas-themed activities, featuring stories, engaging activities, and amusing performances by Rusty and Dusty – Sodor’s mischievous station sweepers. They’ll entertain with singing, dancing, and laughter all day long. Additionally, children can delight in fun fair rides, face painting, balloon art, and much more!

Ahead of Thomas’ return to the railway, Mike Kelly, Chairman of the East Lancashire Railway, said “We’re thrilled to announce the return of Thomas the Tank Engine to the tracks of ELR.”

“Day Out With Thomas events hold a special place in ELR’s calendar and remain one of our most beloved experiences. Thomas is cherished by people of all ages, making the event a source of joy not just for children but also for parents, grandparents and also our volunteers.”

The full experience promises to be a train ride like no other and is anticipated to sell out in the weeks leading up to the event.

With prices starting at £13.70 for kids and £22.70 for adults, tickets for all Day Out with Thomas events this year (May, August and October) are available to book HERE.
