The second annual This is Manchester Awards will take place on 11 November at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate celebrating the incredible talent Greater Manchester has at its heart, the best of the best!

Hundreds of businesses and individuals have taken the time to submit detailed nominations with entries being judged independently by our judging panel which includes BRIT Awards’ Ged Doherty and ex-footballer Joleon Lescott.

The shortlist reads like a who’s who from the region.  Boohoo, JD Williams and Boda Skins are just some of the nominations within the fashion category, property giants Capital and Centric, De Trafford and Russell’s Construction sit within this new category for 2019 while Manchester City Council (Tour of Britain), Lancashire Cricket (India Vs. Pakistan), Manchester City (Title Celebration) & Manchester United (Treble Reunion) are just some of the incredible events being considered in the Live Event of the Year category.

A full shortlist can be seen HERE.

This is Manchester Awards founder and organiser Ziara Siddique, MD of Elite Profile Agency said; “ We are literally bowled over by the strength of this years entries.  I’d like to congratulate all the nominated individuals and businesses and wish them luck with the next round of judging which thankfully is out of my hands.

“|We’re also delighted to confirm our support to OnSide Youth Zones we’ll be raising money on the night for the new development, Hide Out under construction in Gorton.”

In 2018, over 400 attendees including Vincent & Carla Kompany, Andy Burnham, Mohammed and Umar Kamani and Ilkay Gündogan turned out to support the nominees. The awards are sponsored for the second year by Rochdale based Footasylum.

The top accolade the Supernova award for 2018 was presented to John Roberts, founder & Chairman of AO.com, recognised for his charity work developing youth zones in the North West and Nationally providing safe places for young people to go, the 2019 Supernova will once again be presented on the night.

Speaking about the 2018 award John Roberts said; “Winning the Supernova award was a huge surprise, hugely humbling and brilliant!  We were in a room of such amazing companies, and to be recognised for such an award by your peers was just fantastic.  Really it should shine and reflect on everybody that is around me, both at OnSide with everything we are doing there and, at AO, I couldn’t wish to work with better people.”

On the importance of the awards; “For me, the answer is simple.  In our region, we have amazing businesses and we have amazing talent and, we have a huge amount to celebrate.  But, as is tradition, with a ‘bit of Northern grit, spit and determination’, we don’t want to talk about that!  We want to be humble and quiet about it.  Well that’s not what this night is about, it’s about celebrating Manchster and the surrounding area.  To do that, everyone needs to step forward and to shine a light to inspire others.”
