Emirates Old Trafford has been confirmed as a host venue for next year’s Men’s Ashes Series next year for the fourth test

Emirates Old Trafford has been confirmed as a host venue for next year’s Men’s Ashes Series, with the home of Lancashire Cricket hosting the Fourth Test starting on Wednesday 19 July.

2023 will see another busy year at Emirates Old Trafford with the home of Lancashire Cricket hosting internationals against Australia (Test Match) and New Zealand (IT20), whilst the LV County Championship, Royal London One Day Cup, Vitality T20 Blast and the Hundred can be seen live at Emirates Old Trafford.

It follows on from a record-breaking year in 2022 that saw the venue host three internationals, Lancashire’s domestic campaign, The Hundred, as well as four sold out concerts featuring two nights of Harry Styles, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Killers.

Emirates Old Trafford has gained a reputation of being one of the best concert venues in the country and regularly attracts some of the leading global artists. In recent years, in addition to 2022, the venue has hosted One Love Manchester, Rihanna, Beyonce, Foo Fighters, Courteeners – as Manchester leads the way in the music scene.

2023 is set to be just as big a year for the venue, which includes the new development at Emirates Old Trafford, which is currently underway, and will be ready for the 2023 Ashes Test.

The latest development plans, set to be completed later next year, includes a 100-room hotel extension to the current Hilton Garden Inn, a lower tier stand and concourse, a new conference and events space, as well as enhanced facilities such as a museum experience and retail store. The hotel expansion allows the Club to further build on its success since its opening back in 2017.

Historically known as the home of Lancashire Cricket Club, and one of the UK’s leading international cricket stadiums, Emirates Old Trafford boasts a range of award-winning conference and events facilities – including a four star 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn on-site – making it one of the most all-encompassing venues in Manchester.

With spaces such as The Point – the iconic glass-fronted suite with a balcony overlooking the famous Lancashire Cricket pitch – Emirates Old Trafford is a versatile venue with capacity for 10 to 2,000 guests and welcomes over 450,000 visitors annually in events ranging from international and domestic cricket, concerts, weddings, to corporate meetings.

Lancashire Cricket’s Chief Executive Daniel Gidney, said: “Emirates Old Trafford has a very proud heritage and history in hosting Ashes Test matches and we’re all hugely excited about hosting next year’s fixture.”

“Added to the New Zealand IT20 and a packed domestic schedule for the Red Rose, 2023 is going to be an incredible year for everyone involved at Emirates Old Trafford.”

“It’s going to be fantastic to see the new development open and welcoming guests into another truly unique space to enjoy cricket from inside Emirates Old Trafford.”
