Renowned Manchester music personality Clint Boon will DJ at city centre networking event Suits & Vinyl this month. The DJ and radio presenter, formerly of ‘Madchester’ city rockers Inspiral Carpets, described the concept as “genius” and says he’s looking forward to spinning guests’ favourite vinyl records on the day.

The brainchild of Dave Jones, joint Managing Director of The Reward Group, Suits & Vinyl started in Leeds four years ago and expanded into Manchester earlier this summer in partnership with PR and digital marketing consultancy, Roland Dransfield.

More than 100 professionals donned suits and brought along their beloved tracks to the first Manchester event in June.

Clint, who presents shows on Radio X and BBC Radio Manchester, and runs a number of well-known club nights across the city, said: “Traditional networking has such an archaic vibe, whereas Suits & Vinyl is a great concept that I’m very excited to be part of.

“It’s worked so well over in Leeds so why wouldn’t it absolutely fly in Manchester?”

Oldham-born Clint, who also has an iTunes podcast show entitled ‘Storytime with Boon’ which takes listeners on a musical journey and features famous voices, added: “Lisa Morton of Roland Dransfield invited me to the first Suits & Vinyl in Manchester in June to check out the vibe as a guest – and it was fantastic.

“The next one in September, which is again being held at The Albert Square Chop House, will be even bigger and better. We’re full of original ideas in Manchester, but we’ll totally embrace this as it’s a social event which is relaxing and one where you can get to know people by talking about music first, then business. I think it will grow and grow as a concept and I’m looking forward to people coming along.”

Organisers of Suits & Vinyl Manchester said it’s not compulsory for people to wear a suit or bring along vinyl – but it helps if you do.

Suits & Vinyl will take place on Thursday, September 15, from 4pm to 7pm at The Albert Square Chop House opposite Manchester Town Hall and is free of charge.
