Forever Manchester, the only charity that funds and supports community groups throughout Greater Manchester, is announcing a unique fundraising Festive Quiz!

With Christmas 2020 promising to be a little ‘different’ to normal, the team at Forever Manchester thought it would be a nice idea to create a special quiz which would be aimed at businesses and companies so they can create a virtual/zoom-style quiz to use amongst their employees to bring people together, lift everyone’s spirits and have a bit of fun!

Throughout the pandemic, Forever Manchester has delivered £2.5 million to community groups throughout Greater Manchester. These community groups range from food banks, services supporting domestic abuse, helplines, support for people experiencing mental health, vulnerable people self-isolating and groups providing emergency welfare, helplines, financial advice and befriending and information services.

The fundraising events that Forever Manchester usually organises throughout the year (including the 2021 birthday party) have obviously not been able to go ahead, due to COVID, so in order to keep on supporting community groups, the Forever Manchester team have put together this special quiz which will be available to all companies (or individuals) who can offer a donation of £100 to the charity to support community groups in Greater Manchester.

The Forever Manchester Festive Quiz will be hosted by Captain Manchester and will have 10 different specialist rounds ~ all with Manchester-themes or connections.

Topics will include: music, history, film/theatre, sport, lyrics, TV, general knowledge…with the questions read out by by some familiar faces from TV, radio, music and comedy… Justin Moorhouse (comedian/broadcaster), Julie Hesmondhalgh (Coronation Street, Broadchurch, The A Word…), Clint Boon (broadcaster/DJ/musician), Jennie McAlpine (Coronation Street’s Fiz), John Thomson (comedian/Cold Feet’s Pete Gifford) Rowetta (Happy Mondays singer), Jeff Hordley (Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle), Stan Chow (graphic artist), Cheddar Gorgeous (drag artist/performer) and Mary Ellen McTague (Eat Well Mcr & The Creameries co-founder/chef).

Once the companies have made the donation for the quiz, the Forever Manchester team will provide a link which companies can share via Zoom with their employees. It means that they can all have a bit of fun in a virtual way, and will be supporting community groups at the same time.

‘Its been a very strange year for everyone and with Christmas parties very much on hold at the moment we wanted to help local businesses plan some festive cheer whilst helping their local communities at the same time. We are very grateful to all our guest presenters for taking time to do this and we hope everyone enjoys the quiz and stays safe and well over Christmas.”
