Global stars will head to Cheshire tomorrow for the much anticipated Bolesworth International from 12th-15th June.

An exciting line up of international riders from 12 nations, including London 2012 Gold Medallist Nick Skelton, US squad member and eight members of the famous Whitaker family, will compete a for a share of the £125, 000 total prize fund.

This is the first international show jumping event ever to be staged in the North West and places Bolesworth into the top 5 show jumping venues in the UK, alongside Hickstead, Windsor and Olympia.

The opening ceremony, being hosted by ex-Liverpool and Manchester United footballer Michael Owen and his wife Louise, will include a fantastic equestrian spectacle involving British Olympian Nick Skelton, Ireland’s highest ranked show-jumper Billy Twomey and international carriage driver Boyd Exell.

Local school children will also have the chance to be a part of this special opening day, as Bolesworth host their Schools’ Day offering groups free entry on Thursday 12th June, with a full programme of educational activities, including the chance to meet and talk to some of the UK’s top riders.

Paralympic legend, Lee Pearson CBE, has also announced that disabled children and their families from across Cheshire, Staffordshire and Merseyside are to be given free entry, thanks to a new partnership between event organisers and national charity, Caudwell Children, of which Pearson is a patron.

The four day festival is centered on the international show-jumping competition and features attractions for the whole family including a vintage funfair, fine food, fashion and lifestyle shopping village, rare animal shows and a live concert from popular boy band, Blue.

The huge range of activities available for families includes a rare opportunity for camel riding and the chance to experience some animal magic with an exotic reptile show, micro pigs, birds of prey, Newfoundland rescue bears and parrot displays. Adrenalin junkies can experience stunt bike displays, land & water zorbing, indoor caving and even scale an 18ft climbing wall.

The Bolesworth Food, Fashion & Lifestyle Festival will also be running during the event from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th June, celebrating all the very best in local food and drink, holistic beauty and lifestyle with fashion shows and demonstrations with Celebrity Chef Brian Mellor.

Grandstand seating and parking are free with advance adult entrance tickets, priced at £10 online with free entry for all children under 12.

The show is located just 15 minutes south of Chester on the main A41, and will be supporting two charities, Caudwell Children and local children’s hospice Claire House.
