MEN award-winning theatre actor and director Wyllie Longmore will direct an adaptation of Shakespeare’s work by acclaimed playwright Conor McKee.

Shakespeare’s Deadly Sins runs across the North West from Wednesday 1 October to Sunday 19 October 2014.

To celebrate Shakespeare’s 450th birthday, this unique and thrilling production takes you on a journey through gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, pride, lust and envy.

Haunting vocal harmonies and searing stage combat are woven through the action as moments from less performed plays and sonnets encounter scenes from classic works Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth.

Longmore is thrilled to be involved in a new take on the work of Shakespeare and is excited to see the work through the lens of the Seven Deadly Sins. He said: “within Shakespeare’s works, you can find each of the deadly sins in their ultimate form”.

This stripped back, fresh and fast-paced celebration of Shakespeare’s work, with the emphasis on story telling, music and physical theatre, will delight new theatre-goers and Shakespeare connoisseurs alike.

The movement and stage combat is choreographed by Kenan Ali and the music is composed by Carol Donaldson.

An ensemble of four actors will alternate lead roles and supporting roles to bring the work to life and support it with enthralling stage combat and a vocal soundtrack. Actor Cathy Shiel is set to return to the stage after her compelling performance as Lady Macbeth in the previous Macbeth productions by CMP.
