A man was stabbed in Old Trafford in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called by the ambulance service to Upper Chorlton Road in Old Trafford after they attended reports that a 22-year-old man had been stabbed.The ambulance crew were also experiencing an unacceptable level of aggression.

The man was taken to hospital where he is currently in a critical condition receiving treatment for stab wounds.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assault

Due to prior police contact, this incident has been referred to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch.

Detective Inspector Dave Jones form GMP’s Trafford borough said: “My thoughts are with the man as he fights for his life in hospital.

“We have launched an investigation and a 17-year-old girl was arrested at the scene.

“GMP officers had been at the property in the hours prior to this incident, so for this reason we will be looking at our actions as is our policy.

“We would like to hear form anyone who has any information or concerns regarding this incident.”
