A second man from Salford has been charged following the re-investigation into the murder of Paul Croft back in 2005.
Paul O’Neill 36, of Broomhall Road, Pendlebury has been charged with murder and appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today.

He has been remanded to custody.

On 25 March 2005, Paul Croft was attacked on a pathway close to the Lord Nelson pub in Pendlebury, which is known locally as the Black Path.

He had been severely beaten and was taken to Hope Hospital where he died a week later on 31 March 2005.

Police launched an investigation and made a number of arrests in connection with Paul’s murder but all were subsequently released without charge.

GMP’s Cold Case Unit launched a re-investigation into the murder in 2015.
