Salvi’s has opened a brand-new eclectic Italian food hub, taking in a restaurant, bar, deli, weather-protected terrace and exhibition space

Salvi’s has opened a brand-new eclectic Italian food hub, taking in a restaurant, bar, deli, weather-protected terrace and exhibition space within luxury development Deansgate Square, as the Manchester favourite celebrates its 10th year in the city.

Housed in a 3,000 square feet unit within the flagship scheme, the latest addition to the family-run Salvi’s venue roster, is treating the people of Manchester to much-loved authentic Neapolitan cuisine with recipes passed down through generations, a Sorrento-style bar, and deli shelves fully-stocked with DOP stamped and verified products.

Aiming to bring a taste of Southern Italy to the Southern end of Deansgate, the Salvi’s team is welcoming customers to the sun-drenched weather-protected heated terrace and bar, providing year-long indoor and outdoor seating.

The Amalfi Room is the first private dining room of its kind in the city and promises unforgettable VIP experiences, while also hosting owner Maurizio Cecco’s famous pasta classes later in the year, so watch that space.

The latest addition to the Salvi’s family will serve a slice of Italy, inspired by generations of family culinary knowledge and Maurizio’s native Naples, from fresh cicchetti to spectacular pasta and rich tiramisu, alongside refreshing Italian wines, beers and cocktails.

A freshly developed menu combines crowd-favourite classics with Maurizio’s latest culinary concoctions. Nationally-featured Pasta Nonna Teresa, with pistachio pesto and pancetta, and octopus and spicy sausage Pasta Polipo ‘Nduja will be served, along with brand new Pasta Pesto Melanzane, combining sizzling aubergine and aromatic pesto.

Also on the menu are Pasta al Piennolo, with Naples-grown piennolo tomatoes and Linguine al Aragosta, treating seafood lovers to lobster linguine in tangy tomato sauce.

The mains include tender ribeye steak Costata di Manzo Piemontese, along with the latest additions of grilled tuna steak with Sorrento lemons, Tonno Amalfi, and sea bass with cherry tomatoes in white wine sauce, Branzino Sorrento.

Pizza lovers are also in for a treat with a variety of handmade Neapolitan-style offerings, including newly added vegan-friendly Vegano. The range also includes classics like Margherita and Naples-specialty, Calzone Fritto, a street-style pizza with San Marzano tomatoes, DOP mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan.

In-keeping with Italy’s Aperitivo traditions, Salvi’s Deansgate offers the customer favourite Limoncello Spritz, along light and summery Aperol Spritz, plus many more.

As well as serving a selection of Italian beer, the bars at Salvi’s are also stocked with wines, flown straight from Italy. From spicy red Primitivo Manduria, fresh on the palette white Vermentino, Campania-classic Fiano, to Lombardy-pride champagne Franciacorta DOCG, diners can compliment their food with a glass of vino for a full Italian gastronomic experience.

The food hub also offers quick Neapolitan-style lunch with daily offerings of freshly made paninis and the simply delicious sweet treat, cannoli.

Over a decade ago, Maurizio and his wife Claire spotted a gap in the English market for authentic, high quality, Italian produce and opened their deli in the Corn Exchange and a restaurant in the Northern Quarter.

Managing director Maurizio said, “We worked so hard to bring Salvi’s Deansgate to life and we’re absolutely ecstatic to finally be able to share the simply stunning venue that we have created! Like many other businesses, we faced a lot of challenges during the pandemic, but we are proud to say we are still standing strong and growing.

We took the best features of each of our venues and crafted the new Salvi’s brand for everyone as passionate about real Italian food as us. Manchester has been our home for years, and we’re dedicated to ‘serve’ back the love we receive!”

The eye-catching new brand has been designed by Manchester’s Instruct studio, drawing inspiration from Italian street signage and mid-century Italian food packaging. Created with family and warmth in mind, it gives a contemporary twist to the traditional Salvi’s look.

Comprising 1,508 spacious apartments across four carefully designed towers, Deansgate Square delivers another level of city centre living to Manchester, offering a number of amenities, one of which is the new Salvi’s venue. Designed in collaboration with AXI Studio, the space is a ‘third place’ for residents and guests, welcomed to experience Salvi’s’ now famous Italian-Mancunian warmth.
