A Friday night under the lights kicked off the weekend for Bolton Wanderers and Salford City. In Richie Wellens first league game in charge, he was on the receiving end of a 2-0 defeat. His former striker Eoin Doyle struck after 23 minutes, which was followed by a Turnbull own goal 20 minutes from time.

Salford has now tasted defeat back to back for the first time this season, while Bolton notched up their second win in the last five games.

Staying in League Two and Oldham Athletic suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of bottom of the league Scunthorpe United, who had not won in their previous 5 games. Despite having the majority of the possession, Oldham managed only 2 shots on target. Scunthorpe hit the Latics with 2 second-half goals to win for only the second time this season. Oldham’s inconsistent season continues with an LWLWL look to their last five games.

Altrincham lost 2-1 to Aldershot Town to make it 3 losses on the bounce in the National League. A Peers consolation goal on the 89th minute was merely that as Phil Parkinson will need to figure out a way to get Altrincham ticking again and fast.

In the National League North, Curzon Ashton were 2-1 winners against Kettering Town, as they put an end to their recent losing streak. Goals from Knowles and Stephenson were enough to snatch the 3 points which moved the Nash up to 8th in the league.

With the international break over, we can look forward to a full fixture list next weekend.
