A striking new mural has appeared in Salford Quays to mark one month to go until the start of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 and to celebrate the city’s role as one of the host locations.
The mural features local Salford schoolgirl Orla, who plays rugby and represents the next generation of sporting talent. The artwork captures the power, pride and potential of women’s rugby, as excitement builds for the tournament, which kicks off on 22 August 2025.
Salford will host two fixtures at Salford Community Stadium – on 22 and 28 August 2025 – and the city is already getting into the spirit, with the mural unveiled on Tuesday 22 July on the side of the Quayside MediaCity car park.
The mural is part of a wider national campaign from World Rugby and England 2025, with murals appearing in other host cities including Sunderland, Brighton and Leeds.

Rugby has deep roots here and this tournament is a chance to celebrate that passion, welcome new fans, and showcase our city on the world stage. The mural is a powerful reminder of the pride we have in our communities and the importance of bringing world-class sport right to our doorstep.”
