Two local Rochdale community organisations have said ‘thank you’ and gifted staff working at Rochdale Care Organisation with some free hampers to recognise all their hard work caring for people during the Omicron wave of the pandemic.

Nabeel Tariq of UKIM Madina Masjid and Shazad Ali from iCare Rochdale dropped off the hampers for the Theatre Team and Children’s Services at Rochdale Infirmary last week.

Rochdale Care Organisation is part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

Nabeel said: “We wanted to give something to show our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the NHS staff at Rochdale Infirmary. It’s been a difficult two years with the ongoing pandemic and the current immense pressures due to the Omicron variant on our NHS staff.

“UKIM iCare have some great projects lined up for 2022 and we want to ensure that we continue to collaborate with Rochdale Care Organisation in order to further strengthen our ties.”

Steve Taylor, Chief Officer at Rochdale Care Organisation, said: “On behalf of Rochdale Care Organisation staff, I would like to say a huge thank you to the Madina Masjid UKIM and iCare Rochdale for the thoughtful hampers they delivered for our staff recently.

“They have shown continued support of our Care Organisation throughout the pandemic giving kind donations including food hampers, supplies and gifts. This support is invaluable and is so appreciated by our staff who continue to work so hard through these challenging times.”

Nabeel and the UKIM iCare team delivered over 300 packs of food for Care Organisation staff and patients during the first wave of the pandemic.

UKIM Madina Masjid is a UK Islamic Mission based in Rochdale. iCare is the charitable arm of UKIM (UK Islamic mission) and supports organisations throughout the UK as well as running workshops and health awareness sessions.
