In collaboration with the Greater Manchester Music Hub, One Education Music and the BBC Philharmonic, RNCM Pathfinder will work to increase opportunities for children and young people to access musical activities and support them in overcoming any barriers they face to their musical progression and development.

Working with a dedicated Programme Coordinator, participants will benefit from a range of workshops with RNCM tutors, opportunities to perform with like-minded musicians and inspirational professionals, and the chance to attend free concerts and events, all supported by mentors from the RNCM and BBC Philharmonic.

Professor Linda Merrick, Principal, said: ‘Enabling musical talent to flourish is at the heart of all we do at the RNCM. We are thrilled to be working locally with the Greater Manchester Music Hub, One Education Music and BBC Philharmonic to launch this important scheme and support young people in our region to realise their talent and potential.’

RNCM Pathfinder has been made possible thanks to a major grant and builds on a pilot project undertaken earlier this year. The ultimate aim of the programme is to enable children and young people to build their confidence so that they can develop their musical engagement independently, whether this is joining different musical ensembles, undertaking a musical qualification or grade, attending musical performances, or attending the Junior RNCM.
