Yonder, a rewards credit card backed by former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand that offers perks at the hottest bars, restaurants, cafes and lifestyle brands in the city and beyond, has landed in Manchester this week.

Already used by more than ten thousand customers in London, Yonder has brought its unique take on loyalty rewards to Manchester where members can earn hundreds of pounds a year in rewards to spend at local dining and drinking hotspots and nationwide lifestyle and travel brands.

Points are earned for every pound spent, which can be used to cover the bill at dining and drinking spots across Manchester including wine bar Erst and bistro Higher Ground. Yonder’s online experiences – which refresh each month – include car rental marketplace Turo, restaurant meal kits Dispatch, flower delivery Freddie’s Flowers, digital detox cabins Unplugged and meal-prep service Lion’s Prep.

Yonder’s points never expire and do not require any activations, coupons or pre-bookings – members simply pay and then choose later in the app whether to use their points to cover the bill.

Full members will also be able to use their points at a selection of coffee shops and cafes across Manchester for the first six months.

Customers can choose between a free membership and a full membership of £15 a month, with the paid option offering a higher point earn rate per £1, 10,000 welcome points, worldwide travel insurance and a metal card. An account can be opened in minutes, works anywhere Mastercard is accepted around the world and includes no FX fees abroad, plus UK-based in-app customer service, purchase protection and Mastercard World Elite perks in its benefits.

Since launch members have spent £100m, spent £1.8m at Yonder experiences, saved £650,000 in FX fees and redeemed more than £650,000 in rewards. Yonder’s dining and drinking partners in London include Speedboat Bar, BAO, Kricket, 45 Jermyn St, Crust Bros and Swift, as well as entertainment partners like Lion King, ABBA Voyage and Stranger Things, and fitness partners like Boom Cycle, Kobox and Reformcore.

Tim Chong, Yonder’s co-founder and CEO commented: “We’re on a mission to rebuild the relationship that the UK has with credit, so it’s a massive milestone for us to be launching in Manchester – a city so famous for its culture, food and drink scene and buzzing nightlife.

“Too many rewards credit cards out there offer the same thing; dull cashback deals or stuffy rewards that are hard to earn or don’t feel like they fit with modern life. We think young people deserve more, so ours are designed to help members discover and treat themselves to more of the great things to eat, drink and do in their city. We’re super excited to be bringing Yonder to Manchester, helping residents to get more from their money with perks that they actually want.”
