Canal Street’s premier gay bar, VIA, has closed its doors to undertake a £329,000 glamorous investment. As part of the refurbishment, the team at VIA will be preserving all of its quirky old charm and features whilst installing a modern cocktail bar and dining space, providing a high level of food and drinks offering all day, every day.

To kick-off the launch celebrations with a bang, the eminent Manchester site will be reopening on the 21st October with a combination of parties taking place until the 31st October. The preview weekend will be providing a one-of-a-kind complimentary ‘Golden Lunch’ to all local businesses, with live DJs from 9pm everyday to lead the late-night festivities.

The glitzy VIP re-launch evening on the 27th October will see the first 100 guests showered with free Ciroc cocktials whilst enjoying a performance from the one and only, Dame Edna, who will be making her reapperance to Manchester after a decade! Not only will the Dame be there, but Brenda Le Beau, Kara Van Park and Tanya Al Bonie will be treating guests to fabulous cabaret performances throughout the weekend with a cash prize of £250 up for grabs for the best dressed customer.

Aside from a stand-out launch month throughout October, discounts and deals will be on offer all-day every day with two meals for £10.99 Monday to Sunday, a bottle of house wine for £8 a bottle and pints of Fosters on sale for £2.90 each. It these deals weren’t enough, a brand new food menu will be rolled out into the site in November, serving all day until 9pm.

With fantastic offers throughout the week, every Monday will feature a karaoke night from 9pm and a variety of glamorous cabaret and DJ performances to see in the weekend. The UK’s first LGBT radio service, Gaydio will also be taking a six-month residency at VIA with a selection of their amazing DJs performing in Polari, the exclusive members bar situated underneath the venue.

General Manager, Mike Mitchell explains; “I am incredibly excited to be part of this new refurbishment and am really looking forward to what the next chapter has in store for Manchester’s premier gay venue. We are bringing some of the best UK cabaret acts to the stage every weekend along with a selection of great deals on both food and drink, so we expect every customer to enjoy their time at VIA. We are also proud to announce the sponsorship of the Manchester Village Spartans – Manchester’s and Northwest England’s Gay and Inclusive Rugby Union Team. I would like to thank the staff and management for all their hard work over the years and on behalf of my team, we are thrilled to see the brand new look!”
