The Salford Red Devils have announced the signing of New Zealand International Winger Manu Vatuvei from the New Zealand Warriors, until the end of the 2018 season.

Vatuvei, known as the Beast, has been a prolific try scorer for the Warriors, scoring 152 times in just over 200 appearances, and has developed a reputation for being one of the most feared outside backs in rugby league.

Manu joins the Red Devils with immediate effect and Head Coach Ian Watson is excited about the prospect of having him in the squad, he said;

“Manu is great signing for us. He has such an impact on the game from the backfield and is a real handful for opposition defences to deal with. Manu is a winner, and has experience of being in those high pressure, big game situations. He will be able to bring that experience into our existing playing group which will be a massive benefit for our young squad.”

Vatuvei joins a Red Devils team challenging in the top four of the Betfred Super League and preparing for a Challenge Cup Semi-Final, and Watson believes a signing of this calibre is testament to the progress being made by the club;

“I’ve been really impressed by how committed Manu is to come over here and be part of this group. He wants to come here and win things, he is fully prepared to work hard and earn the respect of the rest of the boys through his performances.
