A prolific burglar has been handed an order banning him from all rear alleyways across Manchester, after being convicted of breaking into a number of small businesses in Levenshulme and Longsight.

Michael Patterson, 49, of Field Bank Grove, Gorton, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary and possession of a Class B substance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on 20 December 2016.

Patterson was later sentenced to 16 months imprisonment on Tuesday 17 January 2017.

Following sentencing Patterson was handed a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him indefinitely from all rear-alleyways in Manchester – with the exception of the one behind his own residence.

The order was issued due to the consistent method used by Patterson to gain entry to commercial premise – after entering a back alleyway he would force his way into a business or in some cases remove bricks around a window or door to gain access.

All three premise – that include a take-away, a solicitors and a mobile phone shop – are based around the Stockport Road area of Longsight and Levenshulme.

The Criminal Behaviour Order prohibits Patterson from entering an area of Stockport Road from Stanley Grove, Longsight, up to Albert Road, Levenshulme, plus surrounding streets.

The second part of the order prohibits Patterson from entering, or attempting to enter any rear-alleyway in Manchester, other than that which is behind his own residential premises.
