Police are no longer treating a woman’s death in Lostock on Friday night as suspicious.

The woman in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics in Alexandra Road,enquiries have since established that the woman had fallen.

Two men – aged 72 and 73 – were arrested, but have since been released with no further action taken.

Detective Inspector Alison Witkiewicz, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “Following the woman’s tragic death on Friday, it was important that we took the necessary steps to ensure the incident was investigated thoroughly and properly – as is only right in circumstances such as this one.

“Having received the results of the post-mortem and investigated every forensic and CCTV opportunity available to us, we are now satisfied that her death was non-suspicious and as a result the two men have been released with no further action taken.

“Specially trained officers continue to update the woman’s family and support them through this distressing time. Our thoughts continue to be with them.”
