Police are appealing for information and have set up a Major Incident Portal following the death of a 15-year-old boy in Moss Side yesterday evening and are appealing to the public not to circulate a video seen on social media
A fifteen year old boy was found with stab wounds following a disturbance on Moss Lane East and Monton Street.
The boy died later that evening in hospital
His family are being supported by specialist officers at this time. A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing.
One boy, aged 15, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
they are appealing for any information which could assist their ongoing work.
This includes anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage which captures it.
Police are aware of footage already being shared on social media and would ask that people refrain from sharing that further, due to the impact this could have on the victim’s family, and any future prosecution.
Information can be passed directly to officers or via independent, anonymous channels.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “We know just how shocking this incident has been for the whole community and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances behind it.
“Additional officers are in the area as part of our wider response and they will be able to assist with any queries you may have.
“We have a teenage boy in custody and are exploring multiple lines of enquiry, but are asking for anyone with any information to please come forward.
“Any information you have could greatly assist our investigation, and I would urge the public to share it with us.”
